According to sources close to Diario AS, Barcelona has AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini on their radar as a replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
He appears to be likely to accept a deal from Paris Saint-Germain and go to France at the final minute.
With a verbal agreement in place for the Dutch midfielder for roughly two weeks, Barcelona even arranged medical tests for Wijnaldum, with sources claiming that the club was also prepared to send a medical team to Holland to join the national team’s facilities and speed up the process.
In the 2020-21 Serie A season and other tournaments, Lorenzo Pellegrini was one of Roma’s most important players. He appeared in 47 games for the Italian side, scoring 11 goals and assisting on nine occasions.
Following a great campaign, Pellegrini has been called up to represent Italy at the Euros. However, a strong performance with the national team during the European Championships could pique Barcelona’s interest.
