Anthony Davis had to wait 67 days, 30 games, and five missed shots before he could finally mark his return from injury with a bucket against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.

Davis furrowed his brow and shook his head as if to say, “About time,” after his 19-foot step-back jump shot dropped through the net with 4 minutes, 51 seconds left in the first quarter to bring the Los Angeles Lakers up by one.

Davis started for the visiting Lakers and was done by halftime of L.A.’s 115-110 loss, his first game since Feb. 14 since recovering from a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis in his right leg that took nearly nine weeks to heal.
