The Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs in the first round for the first time in James’ 18-year NBA career.

According to Lamar Odom, the Los Angeles Lakers require more than LeBron James and Anthony Davis to return to the top of the NBA standings.

Odom, a two-time NBA champion with the Lakers, acknowledged that seeing his previous team struggle in the last months of the 2020-21 season before being knocked out early in the playoffs “hurt” him.

The purple and gold had a tremendous start to the season, going 22-6, but were derailed by Davis’ injury, which kept him out for two months. James sustained an ankle injury as he reached his return, keeping him out for six weeks.

Odom wants the Los Angeles Lakers to recruit another All-Star type player who can assist James and Davis in shouldering the load if one of them is dealing with fitness difficulties.
