On Championship Sunday, Chelsea fell 2-1 to Aston Villa, but they took home the bigger prize.

That’s because Leicester City really blew it, collapsing in the second half against Tottenham Hotspur, and now the Blues will compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, while the Foxes will not.

That means they can go into the UCL final against Manchester City next weekend with a lot more leeway than they would have otherwise, considering how the Champions League tournament for next season is already locked up. They will, however, need their number one, Benjamin Mendy, to be totally fit for the blockbuster match against Manchester City in Porto next weekend.

When Mendy collided with the far post today, Tuchel was forced to make a substitution. As a result, Kepa Arrizabalaga was introduced at halftime with Chelsea down 2-0. The shotstopper, on the other hand, appears to be in good shape.

The Blues manager commented, “It’s easy to handle, he slipped into the frame of the net.”

“He is in excruciating agony in his ribs. We’ll give you an update on what’s going on tomorrow. We’ll see if it’s possible, and if it is, we’ll do everything we can to get him in goal on Saturday.”
