Barcelona wants to hold Brazilian right-back Emerson, who is currently on loan at Real Betis, according to a report by Marcelo Bechler.

The future of Emerson, who joined the Andalusian club in 2018, has been a hot topic at the Nou Camp, particularly with the arrival in 2020 of Sergio Dest, who is in fine form.

To sign the Brazilian, the Catalans will have to pay Betis 9 million euros. According to reports, Barcelona would only consider selling Emerson if they received a substantial bid, since Barcelona would only receive half of the transfer value due to a 50-50 equity split between Barcelona and Betis, who split the 12.7 million Euro transfer fee to Atlético Mineiro in 2018.

According to Mundo Deportivo, a significant bid for the defender is highly unlikely due to the global financial situation, though the Brazilian was rumoured to have piqued the attention of Premier League side Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window, with Tottenham reportedly willing to pay the 25 million Pound asking price that Barcelona had at the time.
