Barcelona are expected to recruit former academy star Kays Ruiz-Atil on a free transfer, with the midfielder expected to sign a three-year contract.

Kays Ruiz-Atil, a teenage midfielder, is on his way to Barcelona after his contract with French giants Paris Saint-Germain expired, according to Mundo Deportivo. The Catalan heavyweights are poised to sign the teenager to a three-year contract.

Between 2009 and 2015, Ruiz-Atil spent six years at Barcelona’s renowned La Masia academy, having joined the club from the Olympique Lyon youth system.

After the Catalans were sanctioned by FIFA for illegally registering underage players, the teenage midfielder transferred to PSG, where he made remarkable progress.

The 18-year-old went on to make a total of seven appearances for the French capital club. Due to the contract stalemate, he has been shut out since December of last year, meaning he has never played under current boss Mauricio Pochettino.

According to the report, the midfielder selected Barcelona and is poised to sign a three-year contract with the Catalan giants.
