Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have ramped up their efforts to capture Lautaro Martinez in the summer transfer season, according to a report by Spanish daily MARCA.

Last week, the two Spanish giants met with Alejandro Camano, the 23-year-old Argentine international’s agent, to discuss a prospective transfer.

Lautaro Martinez joined Inter Milan from Racing Club in the summer of 2018 and has quickly established himself as one of Serie A’s greatest forwards. Following a breakout season in 2019/20, the player stepped up his game this season, contributing significantly to the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title success.

The 23-year-old has a solid score of 17 goals and 10 assists to show for his efforts in 38 Serie A games.

To that aim, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud, and Roberto Firmino have all been connected with Atletico Madrid, with Martinez also a possibility. In reality, both Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have held negotiations with Alejandro Camano, the 23-year-old Argentine forward’s agent, about a possible summer transfer, despite the player’s preference for Inter Milan.
