According to reports, the Barcelona star has purchased a hotel in Andorra.
Messi will not be a footballer indefinitely. He is still making astronomical sums for his work on the field and as a top endorsement, and he will most certainly continue to do so long after his playing days are over. However, it appears that the Argentine is already growing his commercial empire and ensuring his money streams for long after he retires.
Messi was reportedly closing deals in the hospitality industry as the football season came to a close. According to Marca, the Barcelona captain has been the owner of the MIM Hotels hotel business since 2017. This summer, the firm completed the purchase of another another high-end residence.
Casa Canut is the sixth hotel to join the MIM Hotels portfolio, and is located in Andorra, in the mountains near Barcelona. The popular Carlemany de Escaldes-Engordany is home to the 31-room luxury hotel.
Despite continuous rumour that he would leave the club this summer, football fans are seeing this as a sign that the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner plans to stay in the area.
Messi is presently in Argentina with the national squad, where they are preparing for the Copa America. The news of his investment near Catalunya has piqued the interest of his supporters, who are hoping he would decide to stay.
