Sergio Ramos’ Real Madrid contract expires this month, and he may quit the club.
Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos seemed to be heading for a stressful few weeks. The veteran Spanish international’s contract is coming to an end in the next few weeks, and extension talks have come to a halt at a critical juncture. Ramos, who joined the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from Sevilla in 2005, has had tremendous success during his time there.
Ramos has enraged the club by instructing his teammates not to accept wage cutbacks because the club is only doing so to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, according to a source.
Ramos is s aid to have been given a new contract with lower conditions, similar to the one Modric signed recently, but he turned it down.
A move for Mbappe is likely to be contingent on the club freeing up pay space by unloading important players and raising finances through squad player sales.
Carlo Ancelotti, the new manager, has been guaranteed a big transfer budget to work with ahead of the 2021/22 season, and Mbappe remains their top priority.
Mbappe’s own contract talks in Paris are said to have come to a halt, with the French giants willing to sell him in order to avoid losing him for free in 2022.
