Eden Hazard has apologised for laughing on the pitch with Chelsea players after Real Madrid’s Champions League exit.

Madrid were eliminated from Europe’s top competition after losing the second leg of their semi-final tie 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, with goals from Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Hazard, on the other hand, didn’t appear to be bothered by the final result, as he was seen joking with Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma and Edouard Mendy as the players exited the pitch, prompting the Spanish press to single him out for criticism.

After his contribution to Real Madrid’s cause was called into question, the Belgian winger took to social media to respond to the media storm.

“I apologise. On Instagram, Hazard posted, “I’ve read a lot of opinions about me today, and it wasn’t my intention to offend Real Madrid fans.”

“Playing for Real Madrid has always been a dream of mine, and I came here to win.”

“The season is not yet over, and we must now fight for La Liga as a team. Good day, Madrid!”
